Winter Safety Campaign/ Grit Bins

Following on from the success of last year’s Winter Safety Campaign, Glasgow City Council is planning to ensure that effective services are delivered to residents during periods of severe weather in 2012/2013.

We are in the process of building up a register of Glasgow residents and groups who are already registered as Neighbourhood Improvement Volunteers who would also be willing to assist within their own communities during the 2012/2013 winter campaign.

Essentially, we are asking Winter Wardens to spread grit on the pavements in the vicinity of their own homes and to assist elderly or otherwise vulnerable people nearby. The council will deliver the grit to an agreed location and Community and Safety services will provide all of the necessary kit.
