Summer Fair and opening of the Community Garden

Untitled

We had a great summer fair last weekend – a bit damp, but that’s Scotland! Still a good turnout, with live music and it was brilliant to see so many people in the park.

We also had the official opening of our community garden by MSP Bob Doris, and Glasgow West End Today were there to film that and talk to us about the park and the garden.

Community Garden Complete

We’ve now finished the first phase of the community garden, and it’ll be officially opened this weekend at the Summer Fair. Here’s some before and after pictures to show what we’ve done:

We also put a rotating sculpture on the old gatepost:

2016 Summer Fair

Our 2016 Summer Fair is this weekend – the 19th of June – from 2pm-4pm. Our new community garden will be officially opened by MSP Bob Doris. We’ll have a free bouncy castle, puppet making, tennis coaching, food stalls, and visitors including the RSPB, Maryhill Burgh Halls and Free Wheel North.

Community Garden

We have been successful in applying for a grant from Glasgow City Council’s Stalled Spaces fund – we will be using this grant to build a community garden on the derelict compound at the bowling greens.

The garden will have raised beds, a pathway, a pergola with rainwater collection on the roof, and compost bins. Construction will start in the next month, and we will need help – more to be announced soon.

Full details of what we will be building are in this file:
